Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University Explores Collaboration with Bali International Polytechnic for Gembrong Goat Conservation

Tabanan, June 13, 2025 – The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University (Fapet Unud) conducted a preliminary meeting to explore a potential collaboration with Bali International Polytechnic (PIB) in support of the conservation of local genetic resources, particularly the Gembrong goat. The activity took place at the Gembrong Goat Conservation Center under the management of PIB, located at the Bali International Training & Development Center (BITDEC), Tabanan.

During the visit, the Dean of Fapet Unud, Dr. Ir. Dewi Ayu Warmadewi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng., expressed her sincere appreciation to the Director of PIB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anastasia Sulistyawati, B.A.E., M.S., M.M., M.Mis., D.Th., Ph.D., D.Ag., for her commitment and dedication to conserving the Gembrong goat, a unique genetic resource native to Bali. The Faculty of Animal Husbandry also extended its gratitude for the active involvement of one of its lecturers, Ir. Lindawati Doloksaribu, M.App.Sc., Ph.D., in the conservation efforts at the center.

The planned collaboration will encompass several areas, including education, research, community service, and the development of sustainable breeding technologies for the Gembrong goat. This initiative is part of a strategic effort to preserve and utilize local livestock genetic resources as a vital component of the nation’s biodiversity.

Through this meeting, both institutions hope to establish synergy and outline collaborative steps, including a memorandum of understanding and joint program implementation in the near future.
