Synbiotic Effects of Tape Yeast and Moringa Leaves in Rations on Production Performance, Pathogenic Bacteria and Broiler Intestine Histology, Antar Ursa Putu Mas Ari Candrawati Achieves Doctor of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Husbandry Unud

The Animal Science Study Program (S3) of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, has once again produced its 66th Doctor in the field of Animal Science, Desak Putu Mas Ari Candrawati, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, through an Open Doctoral Promotion Examination led by the Chair of the Session, Koprodi, Animal Science Study Program (S3) Prof. Dr. Ir. Ni Nyoman Suryani, M.Sc., (Monday, 26 August 2024).

The Promoter Team consists of Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Mahardika, MS., Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Nyoman Gde Bidura, MS., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Ni Wayan Siti, M.Sc. Presenting 5 supporting lecturers and 4 invited academic lecturers. The dissertation that was successfully defended was entitled "Synbiotic Effects of Yeast Tape and Moringa Leaves in Diets on Production Performance, Pathogenic Bacteria and Broiler Intestine Histology".

From the results of the dissertation research, we found novelty: 1. Symbiotic yeast tape and Moringa leaves have potential as a natural feed additive, in a ratio of 1:1 (g/g); 2. Providing synbiotic yeast tape and Moringa leaves at a level of 0.2% in the ration can increase the efficiency of feed use; 3. Providing synbiotic yeast tape and Moringa leaves at levels of up to 0.6% can increase protein digestibility, the number of beneficial microbes (LAB and Saccharomyces Spp.) and can increase crypt depth and improve blood lipid profiles in broilers aged 0-5 weeks. "The ban on the use of antibiotics as growth promoters encourages the search for alternative natural feed additive products that are safe and not dangerous for broilers. One interesting thing to study is the synbiotic between yeast tape probiotics and Moringa leaf prebiotics. Synbiotics are a combination of prebiotics and prebiotics, explained Desak Candrawati. The aim of the research carried out was to examine the effects of tape yeast and Moringa oleifera leaves in the diet as synbiotics in the digestive tract on quantity, production quality, feed efficiency, pathogenic bacteria and intestinal histology in broilers.
