Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Attends Bali Cattle Breeding Competition in Celebration of the 255th Anniversary of Gianyar City
The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Dr. Ir. Dewi Ayu Warmadewi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng., attended the Male and Female Bali Cattle Breeding Competition organized by the Gianyar Regency Government on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. The event formed part of the celebrations commemorating the 255th Anniversary of Gianyar City.
The competition served as an important platform for promoting the genetic improvement of local livestock, particularly the Bali cattle, one of Indonesia’s most valuable indigenous genetic resources. The event brought together livestock farmers from various areas of Gianyar Regency, who showcased their finest breeding stock in both male and female categories.
The Dean’s participation demonstrated the strong commitment of the academic community to supporting regional livestock development. On this occasion, she emphasized the importance of collaboration among local government authorities, academics, and livestock farmers in preserving the genetic purity and improving the genetic quality of Bali cattle through sustainable breeding and selection programs.
Furthermore, the event was expected to encourage livestock farmers to continuously improve their breeding and herd management practices. Through competitions such as this, the quality of Bali cattle in Gianyar Regency is expected to continue advancing, enabling them to compete more effectively at both regional and national levels.
The 255th Anniversary of Gianyar City serves as a strategic opportunity to strengthen the livestock sector as one of the key contributors to the regional economy while simultaneously preserving Bali’s valuable indigenous animal genetic resources.
