Faculty of Animal Husbandry Hosts Public Lecture on the Integration of Technology and Precision Management in the Sustainable Poultry Industry

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, organized a public lecture entitled “Integration of Technology and Precision Management in the Sustainable Poultry Industry” on Friday, 8 May 2026. The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Ir. Dewi Ayu Warmadewi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and was attended by academic staff and students of the faculty.

In her opening remarks, the Dean stated, “Technological advancements in the livestock sector, particularly within the poultry industry, must be accompanied by the enhancement of academic competencies and the strengthening of innovation within higher education institutions. Through this public lecture, we hope that students and lecturers will broaden their understanding of precision technologies and their role in supporting a sustainable and competitive livestock industry.”

The lecture featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Iman Rahayu Hidayati Soesanto, M.S., Professor in the Department of Animal Production and Technology, Faculty of Animal Science, IPB University, as the keynote speaker. She delivered a presentation entitled “Towards a Precision Poultry Farming Ecosystem: Technological Innovation for Achieving Indonesia’s Protein Sovereignty by 2045.”

During her presentation, Prof. Iman explained that the poultry industry is increasingly moving toward precision livestock farming systems through the adoption of digital technologies, automated sensors, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI)-based data management. These technologies have the potential to enhance production efficiency, improve animal health, and ensure the sustainable production of high-quality poultry products.

Furthermore, she emphasized that the development of precision poultry farming represents a key strategy for strengthening national food security and achieving protein sovereignty as part of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045. According to her, strong collaboration among universities, industry stakeholders, and government institutions is essential for building an innovative, productive, and sustainable poultry farming ecosystem.

The event generated significant enthusiasm among participants, as reflected in the active discussion and question-and-answer sessions addressing various challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of precision technologies in Indonesia’s poultry industry.

Through this public lecture, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, aims to enhance the academic community’s understanding of emerging livestock technologies while preparing future human resources to successfully navigate the transformation of the modern livestock industry.
