Faculty of Animal Husbandry Lecturer Delivers Public Lecture at the University of Mataram on the Utilization of Closed-House Broiler Waste in Circular Livestock Farming

A lecturer from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, was invited as a speaker in a public lecture organized by the University of Mataram on 5 May 2026. The event featured Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Tirta Ariana, M.S., IPU., ASEAN Eng. as the keynote speaker, presenting a lecture entitled “The Potential of Closed-House Broiler Farm Waste as an Alternative Concentrate in Circular Livestock Farming Systems.”

The public lecture was organized to broaden the academic perspectives of students and members of the university community regarding sustainable livestock waste utilization and the application of circular economy principles in modern livestock production systems. During his presentation, Prof. Tirta Ariana explained that broiler waste generated from closed-house production systems possesses significant potential to be transformed into economically valuable alternative feed ingredients when managed appropriately through scientific and technological approaches.

He emphasized that circular livestock farming not only contributes to reducing environmental pollution but also enhances production efficiency by maximizing the utilization and recycling of available resources. Furthermore, innovations in livestock waste utilization can serve as a strategic solution to the growing challenges associated with feed resource availability and increasing competition for feed ingredients.

The public lecture was conducted in an interactive atmosphere and received enthusiastic participation from both lecturers and students of the University of Mataram. The discussion session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ir. Bulkaini, M.P., who facilitated an engaging and productive question-and-answer session.

Through this academic activity, it is expected that stronger collaboration will be established between the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, and the University of Mataram in advancing knowledge and research, particularly in the areas of sustainable livestock production, circular economy applications, and innovative livestock technologies.
