Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University and Global Food Partners Discuss Cage-Free Farm Development

Denpasar, 2 December 2025 – The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University held a meeting with Global Food Partners to discuss a potential collaboration on cage-free farm development. The meeting was attended by the faculty leadership and the Co-Founder & COO of Global Food Partners, Mr. Jayasimha Nuggehalli, along with his team.

During the discussion, Global Food Partners proposed two collaboration options:
(1) The Faculty partners with layer poultry farmers willing to transition from battery cage systems to cage-free production, supported by approximately IDR 300 million in funding and a long-term partnership of 10–15 years.
(2) The construction of a new cage-free facility measuring 40 × 10 meters, although with a lower probability of funding support.

Global Food Partners recommended the first option as more feasible, offering broader research opportunities and easier operational management. They also emphasized the importance of independent certification and expressed their readiness to support the preparation of an MoU as well as the search for funding partners.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen innovation in teaching, research, and the development of animal-welfare-oriented poultry technologies at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University.
