Jimbaran, 8 May 2025 – The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University (Fapet Unud) held a preliminary meeting to explore a potential collaboration on the management of waste from Close House (CH) livestock housing systems, with Mr. Ketut Darmawan, an experienced practitioner in livestock waste treatment.
The meeting took place at the Bukit Jimbaran Campus and was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, accompanied by the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, as well as the CH barn management team and relevant lecturers.
The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry stated that waste from the CH system is currently not being optimally managed. “We hope this collaboration can offer a solution for waste management while also supporting student learning,” she said.
The Vice Dean III for Student Affairs emphasized that this collaboration aligns with efforts to utilize the campus's business-oriented potential while improving the quality of education.
The discussion also addressed the need for appropriate land, a waste transport system that maintains barn biosecurity, and the potential use of former cattle or goat housing areas.
This preliminary discussion marks the first step toward a strategic partnership between academia and industry stakeholders to support waste management initiatives based on education, economic value, and sustainable environmental practices.
