Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University Holds Public Lecture on Ruminant Animal Nutrition

Jimbaran, May 28, 2025 — The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University (Fapet Unud) held a public lecture themed “Meeting Nutritional Requirements to Optimize Ruminant Animal Production” on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The event took place at the AA Building, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Bukit Jimbaran Campus, and was attended by faculty members and students of Fapet Unud.

The lecture was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Dr. Ir. Dewi Ayu Warmadewi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng. “This public lecture is part of our efforts to broaden the insights and understanding of students and lecturers regarding the critical role of nutrition in ruminant production. We hope this event becomes a meaningful space for learning and discussion, while also strengthening academic networks among animal husbandry faculties across Indonesia,” said the Dean.

The event featured two distinguished guest speakers, both deans from leading animal husbandry faculties in Indonesia. The first speaker, Prof. Dr. Ir. Idat Galih Permana, MSc.Agr., Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, IPB University, presented a lecture titled “Nutrient Requirements Standards and Ration Formulation for Ruminants.” He emphasized the importance of formulating rations based on the physiological stages of livestock and accurate nutrient requirement data to enhance efficiency and productivity.

The second speaker, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mardiati Zain, M.S., Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Universitas Andalas, delivered a presentation titled “The Strategic Role of Nutrition in Optimizing Ruminant Production.” Her presentation highlighted how proper nutritional management supports livestock performance and serves as a key strategy for achieving sustainability in livestock enterprises.

The event was marked by high enthusiasm, with an interactive discussion session following the presentations, providing an important opportunity for participants to explore deeper issues related to ruminant nutrition and feed formulation.

Through this public lecture, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of academic and professional capacities in the livestock sector, particularly in the field of animal nutrition, which remains a cornerstone of successful ruminant production.
