Lecturer of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University Participates in the National Cage-Free Farming Training Batch #3 in Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, 16 November 2025 — A lecturer from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Ir. Elinda Luxitawati, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., participated in the National Cage-Free Farming Training Batch #3 organized by the Indonesian Cage-Free Association (ICFA) from 14–16 November 2025 in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

This activity was a capacity-building program designed for academics, practitioners, and farmers to enhance their understanding and implementation of cage-free egg production systems, which emphasize animal welfare, sustainable production, and food safety.

The three-day training was held at Farmhouse Kalijeruk – Cage-Free Layer Model Farm and Java Village Resort by Homee Yogyakarta. The training materials covered:

  • Introduction to cage-free systems and their key components

  • Management strategies to improve production and efficiency

  • Feed and health management of laying hens

  • Animal welfare certification and its implementation

  • Case-based learning and visits to small-scale farms

  • Cage-Free Design Workshop

The program featured speakers from various national and international institutions, including Global Food Partners, Humane Farm Animal Care, and representatives from the commercial livestock industry.

Participation in this training is expected to enhance the lecturer’s knowledge and competencies in developing teaching and research related to more animal-friendly and sustainable egg production systems. Furthermore, the knowledge gained is expected to support the strengthening of institutional partnerships in advancing modern livestock production technologies.
