Public Lecture by Faculty of Animal Husbandry Udayana University Explores Regulations and Practices of Animal Welfare in Layer Chickens
The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, held a public lecture themed “Animal Welfare” on Friday, July 18, 2025. The event was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and attended by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University.
The session was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning, Dr. Ir. Gede Suarta, M.Si., IPM, who emphasized in his remarks the importance of a deep understanding of animal welfare as a part of professional responsibility in the field of animal husbandry.
The lecture featured two speakers from the Indonesian Animal Law Protection Foundation (YAPHSI). The first presentation was delivered by Fiolita Berandhini Saichu, S.H., M.A, who discussed “Animal Welfare and Its Legal Foundations.” The second session was continued by Lalu Salsabiel Oky Syaputra, who presented the topic “Animal Welfare in Layer Chicken Farming.”
The event was moderated by Dr. Ir. Ni Luh Putu Sriyani, S.Pt., M.P., IPU, ASEAN Eng. Participant enthusiasm was evident through the lively discussion session following the presentations. The event concluded with a symbolic certificate presentation to the speakers and the moderator.
This public lecture is part of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Udayana University’s continuous efforts to enhance awareness and understanding among its academic community regarding current issues in animal husbandry, particularly in the area of animal protection and welfare.
