Widya Karya of the Master’s Program in Animal Husbandry Science at Fapet Unud Visits Poultry Slaughterhouse in Selemadeg, Tabanan

Tabanan, July 4, 2025 – The Master’s Program in Animal Husbandry Science, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, conducted a Widya Karya activity at the Poultry Slaughterhouse (RPH) owned by PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, located in Selemadeg, Tabanan Regency. The activity took place on Friday, July 4, 2025, and was attended by lecturers and master’s students.

The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into modern poultry slaughtering processes that meet industry standards, focusing on food safety, animal welfare, and production efficiency.

During the visit, participants received direct explanations from the slaughterhouse’s technical team regarding the production flow, implementation of strict biosecurity measures, waste management, and the cold chain system used to maintain poultry product quality.

The Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Animal Husbandry Science, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ni Wayan Siti, M.Si., emphasized that this Widya Karya is part of an experiential learning strategy designed to bridge theory with real-world industrial practices. “We encourage students to observe industry processes firsthand as valuable preparation for research and innovation development in the field of animal husbandry,” she stated.

The poultry slaughterhouse team warmly welcomed the group and expressed hopes that such activities would strengthen the collaboration between educational institutions and industry players, including potential cooperation in research and human resource development.
